First step in Gabriel's diagnosis

Gabriel has anxiety at a mid to possibly severe level and there is a definite cause for his behavior problems that warranted a referral to a developmental clinic where he'll be tested for sensory issues, ADD, ADHD, ODD, OCD, all the different stuff. My sister has also brought to light the possibility of Asperger's so that will be investigated as well. The doctor was very patient, sat and listened while I laid everything out for him, even thanked me for bringing a list (lol), and interacted with Gabriel to also make his own observations. Actually having anxiety makes SOOOO much sense but he was clear that it's NOT the only issue going on here. But even in the clinic interacting with the staff and doctor Gabriel was displaying several of his behavior issues and gave the doctor a really good idea of what was going on.

And on the speech issue, he said Gabriel is NOT delayed, but that he resorts to baby talk/babble and mumbling when he gets anxious. That was an important piece of information for me!!!

I called the Developmental Pediatrics place today and they did the initial setup. Once they get insurance to approve, a doctor will review the file and they'll call to set up the first appointment. It will be an appointment with just the parents, and then the next step will be an appointment approximately two weeks later with Gabriel, and then about two weeks after that another appointment to discuss total results and plans of action with just the parents again. They said this time of year is actually the best time because things go pretty fast and there is no waiting list.
